Lock ordering tips
These locks come in commercial and residential applications. The main difference being the lock backset. On a residential door or a commercial interior door the standard backset is 2 3/8 which means the distance from the door edge to the center of the lock hole is 2 3/8 inches.
On a commercial exterior door (usually metal) the standard backset is 2 ¾ inches. Either way there are only two standard backsets 2 3/8 and 2 3/4

Single Cylinder Deadbolt
This lock requires a key on the outside to lock and unlock the door. This lock uses a thumb turn on the inside to lock or unlock on the door This lock should not be used when there is glass on or near the door
Double Cylinder Deadbolt
This lock requires a key to lock or unlock both on the inside or outside of the door. This lock should be used when there is glass on or near the door
Captive Double Cylinder Deadbolt
A captive key attached to the thumb turn puts this lock above the rest. This lock combines the best feathers of the Double and Single Cylinder Deadbolt. When at home you can leave the thumb turn in the desired lock for ease of use on high traffic doors. While traveling or away remove the key/thumb turn and take it with you. Remember On all Medeco Deadbolt Locks there are no exposed screws.
